Navigating the Journeys Tab

Navigating the Journeys Tab

While on the Web App, in "Fleet" you can navigate to the "Journeys" tab from both:
  1. The horizontal Asset Table

  2. The vertical Asset List

The system will load the data from the Asset that was selected on the Assets page.

Tab Controls and Layout Options

While on the Journeys tab, you can:
  1. Resize the table: Adjust the height for a more flexible viewing experience.

  2. Hide the table: This hides all UI components except for the map. When you choose to show it again, the system returns you to the same tab you were viewing before hiding.
  3. Show Details: This will toggle the right hand information panel on/off.
  4. Switch to List View: You can toggle to a vertical layout with live Asset List View under the Assets tab.

Asset Selection

You can select a specific asset to view its historic journeys via:
  1. Single asset selection (searchable dropdown)
  2. The dropdown includes:
    1. ACTIVE assets with a paired tracker
    2. DEACTIVE (VISIBLE) assets, regardless of tracker status
      1. You can still view their past journeys, but they will no longer receive updates.
  3. The list is shown alphabetically by asset name.
  4. Only assets from your assigned display groups or visible asset settings will appear.

Auto-selection behaviour:

  1. If you had an asset selected on the Assets tab before navigating to Journeys, that asset will be automatically pre-selected.
  2. If no asset was selected, none will be pre-selected.
  3. When switching between the Assets, Journeys and Journey Details tabs, the previously selected asset remains pre-selected.

Selecting the Date Period

You can set a date range using the period picker, simply click the start date and then select the end date.
Info
The start and end date can be the same day.

  1. Default range: Today’s date
    1. The system will remember your last selected date range if you leave the Journeys tab and return to it later.
  2. Maximum range: 31 calendar days
  3. Earliest date selectable: 3 years before today
  4. Future dates cannot be selected

Journeys Table View

On the Journeys tab, journey data for the selected asset and date period is updated dynamically in real time.

You can view:
  1. Historic journey records grouped by day
  2. Journey details for both completed and the current ongoing journey (if any)

By default:
  1. Days are listed from the most recent to oldest
  2. Within each day, journeys are sorted from most recent to oldest start time
  3. If a journey begins on one day and extends overnight, it will be recorded under the starting day only, with the end time showing the next day’s date.

For each day shown:
  1. The system displays the number of journeys and total distance travelled
  2. The current journey (if any) is included in the journey count
  3. Distance is displayed in miles or kilometres, based on your company’s Units setting

If a single day’s journeys are split across pages:
  1. The date line is duplicated on each page
  2. The number of journeys and total distance reflect only the subset of records on that page

System defaults:
  1. The top journey under the most recent day is auto pre-selected
  2. Pagination is applied: 50 journeys per page
  3. You can navigate between pages and see the total number of journeys in the pagination control

Sort Options

When viewing the list of journeys of the selected asset within the selected date/date range:
  1. You can sort the list of journeys by Start (start time)
  2. Day groupings are preserved - sorting affects journeys within each day only, not the day order itself
  3. You can reset sorting to the default (most recent first within each day)
  4. System will retain your top filters (selected asset and date range) when applying sort filters within the table and vice versa
  5. System will also preserve your sort selection at user level, even if you leave and return later

View Journeys on the Map

On the "Journeys" tab:
  1. The map defaults to standard map mode.
  2. You can switch between Standard and Satellite view modes.
  3. Switching view mode on one tab does not affect the other tabs on Fleet page; each tab remembers its own map mode independently.
  4. You can zoom in/out and pan in all directions to explore the map.
  5. You can view, add, and edit geofences.
  6. You can search for a location by address, postcode, or geofence name.
  7. Street View mode can be activated.
  8. Journey routes are shown as estimated polylines, with the GPS points aligned to roads for more accurate representation.
  9. Selecting an individual journey displays it on the map.
  10. The map auto-centres and adjusts zoom to fit the selected journey.
  11. If the journey is still in progress, it will not be displayed on the map.
  12. Selecting a day shows that day's journeys on the map.
  13. The map will centre and zoom based on all journeys shown on that page.
  14. If the day's journeys are split across pages, only journeys from the current page will be displayed.
  15. If a journey is overnight, it is fully shown when selected individually.

If no asset or no table row is selected:
  1. The map shows no journeys.
  2. The default map view will be zoomed out and centred over the United Kingdom.

When showing day journeys:
  1. Each route shows start and end points using ignition on/off data.
  2. Each journey has a unique colour, up to 6 per day. Colours are reused in sequence if more than 6.
  3. Each journey's start point is numbered, starting at 1 each day.
  4. These numbers are persistent across map views.
  5. If a start point overlaps with an end point, the start point appears on top.
  6. Most recent journey appears on top of overlapping journeys.

You can hover over a journey start marker to see:
  1. Asset name (historic)
  2. Arrived address and end time
  3. Departed address and start time
  4. Distance (miles or km per company setting)
  5. Duration
  6. Driver

Users can also "Zoom to" a:
  1. Specific journey
  2. Start point
  3. End point
The map will centre and zoom accordingly to focus on the selection.
